As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to expand our business operations to include farming of agricultural products which hitherto had to be supplied by other businesses as input to our operations and onward delivery to end-users. We secured a four hundred (400) hectare parcel of land for the planting of maize, rice, and sesame. The method applied is a combination of mechanized farming and direct labour.
The farming operations involved the direct employment of over three hundred (300) women and youth to be directly engaged with farming activities. This has had a direct positive impact to the economic situations of the families of these employees. The newly recruited employees also underwent skill acquisition programmes through their daily interaction with our team of industry experts with scores of years in farming operations. We make bold to say that the lesoons learned during this new venture, will be translated into the forthcoming planting seasons, where we plan to significantly scale up our farm operations to an area of upto three thousand (3000) hectares.
